Juniors enjoyed learning about college options. This allows them to be better prepared as they enter senior year. Reps came from Dixie, SUU, USU, UofU, UVU, BYU and BYU I, LDS Business, BTECH, Snow, Westminster, and WSU to inform our juniors of their post high college options. Students first met together in the auditorium and talked about college around Utah, what sets them apart from other schools,, FAFSA, and others ways to pay. They then went to three breakout sessions with their school of choice.
We invited Whitaker Construction from Brigham City to come and visit with a group of students about their company and what it has to offer! Wow! We were blown away! They are one of the largest employers in our region in the construction industry. The owners came and talked with our students about the potential this company can offer them! Some individuals will work during summer months to pay for their college, some work their way up through the company. We were all impressed! Many students stayed after to ask more questions. More information about what they do and who they are at: http://whitcon.brigham.net/
Last night BRHS held it's annual FAFSA night. This is a night to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. We had quite a few people come! Wahoo! We had a couple individuals from Utah State come and were happy to help with FAFSA questions. We encourage EVERY student to fill out the FAFSA! You just never know what you might qualify for to help pay for higher education costs.
We enjoyed teaching our seniors about How to Pay for College and Alternatives to College. Click the link to see our presentation. Ways to Pay Be sure to hover over the pictures to watch clips.
Back to school is always an exciting time for most students! Welcome back and we hope you have a wonderful academic year! We got things started off in the right direction Thursday! We had our Higher Ed day where reps came from Dixie, SUU, USU, UofU, UVU, BYU and BYU I, LDS Business, BTECH, Snow, Western Wyo, Westminster, and WSU to inform our seniors of their post high college options. Students first met together and talked about college, FAFSA, and ways to pay. They then went to three breakout sessions with their school of choice. It was fun hearing the kids get excited about the school of choice and some changing their mind of where they had originally wanted to go! We will also be holding this event for our Juniors in March. They are transitioning to our Junior class so they are too late to get information!
August 1st was our District Hope Squad Training. Students from the valley ventured to USU to participate in the Rope Course to gain teamwork skills, communication, trust, overcoming fears, and skills to help when reaching out to others. They then headed to BRHS to learn about some of the phases of Hope Squad. Students learned about QPR, Warning signs of suicide, Ways to help, and what it means to be a member. We look forward to a new year!
It's officially time for students to register for next year. This year zipped on by and you're one year older and wiser! Like last year, we are doing online registration. Student need to log in to their Passport and click scheduling on the left hand side. This is only to request which classes you would like. Not to create a schedule. That will happen later. Each student received a credit evaluation and had a class meeting on what to pick this week. Hopefully they didn't forget, but we have helpful tips on the main page.
Selection dates will be available for Sophomore from Feb. 15-20th only
Selection dates will be available for Juniors Feb. 27-March 4th only
We will pick students classes if this is not done. You will have to pay a fee to change them.
